Head Start on the Hill

A heritage statement was prepared to accompany a pre-application pack for Head Start on the Hill, a nursery in Chester City Centre. The nursery needs more external space, therefore a roof terrace is proposed on top of a 1990s extension, accessed through the first floor of the Grade II listed nursery. The site is in the Chester and Boughton Area of Archaeological Importance, one of only five designated areas in England. Adjacent to the Grade II nursery is the Grade I listed church and attached is the Grade II listed Old Rectory. The heritage context of the project is therefore very rich and the local planning authority required an assessment of significance and impact assessment of the proposals at an early stage.
